1) Tacos de carnitas El weno: 10 pesos a pop for these carnitas. Or 200 pesos for a kilo. 😳
3) Jenni's quesadillas: Elenita makes these blue corn tortillas by hand, to order, with a dozen fillings. 🌯
5) El Fogon de don Pedro: Argentinean street cart with provoleta tacos. 🧀
7) Tacos El Gato Volador: Birria.🍲
8) Contramar: This is not a taco. It's a fish. But you get tortillas to make fish tacos. 🐟
9) St Regis CDMX: Brunch has Street tacos to order and bottomless drinks. 🍾
10) Tortas al Fuego; This is not a taco. It's a torta with milanesa. 🥪

Forget everything you think you know about the burrito. This is the platonic ideal of the art form.

If you've hung out with me at any point since last May you've probably heard me wax poetic about these perfect specimens at some point. They're served up at Mama Mela in San Miguel de Allende by owner Humberto, who manages to put forward the type of friendly hospitality that fancy restaurants the world over can only hope to achieve while churning out 200 burritos per day.

He serves a range of rich, flavorful house fillings, including vegetarian options, and believe me when I say that you'll want to try them all and come back time and time again. This is the type of awesome local eatery you always dream of finding while traveling.
